The decoration with “Garofani” is one of the best known Faentini motifs, whose origin dates back to 1767 by the Ferniani factory in Faenza.
This decoration constitutes a Chineseria, since it is inspired by the first Chinese porcelain imported into Europe and reproduced on local terracotta.
Still used to decorate ceramics, the “carnation” motif was also taken up by the Richard Ginori company, now owned by Gucci, for a nicknamed “oriental decorum” line.
