Dieulefit literally means “God made it” (but maybe not in this case).
The pottery history of this small town in the Drome in South-eastern France dates back to well over two hundred years. The village potters are still using techniques that date back prior to the French revolution.
The main success has been due to the clay sourced at the local quarry of Vitrouillères, this is a unique durable material that was even sourced in Roman occupation times to make pottery.
