Created by Italian designers Guido Drocco and Franco Mello in 1972, the Gufram Cactus is now considered a true work of contemporary art, an ornamental object capable of capturing the observer’s attention with personality. On the occasion of its 50th anniversary, the project signed by Gufram was born, a double homage to the iconic object and to the artist who, above all, marked the last century, with his non-conformist style, far from any cultural and social convention.
Andy’s Blue Cactus, Andy’s Pink Cactus and Andy’s Yellow Cactus are the perfect translation of Andy Warhol’s prints, with their bold and timeless design. A tribute to those who had the courage and insolence to assert themselves, and an encouragement to new artists, inviting them to overcome every type of boundary and limit.
Made from the original 1972 mold, each cactus is sculpted and hand-finished by specialized artisans, making each piece unique. The 2,165 polyurethane studs that characterize the surface are then painted with Guflac, a paint that makes the surface similar to leather, while allowing it to remain flexible and soft.
