Beautiful hand-made print, the image composed of many separately-printed colour layers. A face hovers in a landscape of plant and rock forms, accompanied by the light of a cut-out moon shape radiating the whiteness of the unprinted paper beneath.
Framed under glass in original gilded frame
A sensitive painter, Takahashi was skilled in transforming painted watercolour and gouache images into intense, multilayered prints. His vocabulary of abstracted faces, creatures and natural forms is expressed through a multitude of marks and harmonious colours.
(Not the manga artist of nearly the same name 🙂
