An elegant French secretaire dating back to the Napoleon III period (second half of the 19th century).
This piece stands out for its slender and harmonious structure, resting on curved legs and enriched with finely chiseled gilded bronzes in the corners, feet, and locks.
The front features elegant floral inlays in light woods on a rosewood and rosewood background, arranged within shaped recesses that enhance its refinement.
The top is topped with the original marble, veined in shades of pink and gray, with an owl’s beak motif on the edges.
The front conceals a drop-leaf cabinet complete with small drawers with gilded bronze handles and an open compartment.
The surface of the drop-leaf top is upholstered in red leather (replaced more recently), making it ideal as a writing desk.
Below, three large drawers offer storage space and functionality.
