Jacques Grüber (Sundhouse, January 25, 1870 – Paris, December 5, 1936) was a French master artist in working vetro.Dopo having studied at the École des beaux-arts de Nancy, he obtained a scholarship from the city of Nancy that allowed to attend the Gustave Moreau in Paris courses.He returned to Nancy in 1893 where he began teaching at the Ecole des beaux-arts before joining the Daum glassware, make drawings for the furniture maker Majorelle and book covers for René Wiener.He created his own firm in 1897 specializing in the creation of stained glass.He was interested in all the techniques of decorative arts before specializing in the production of windows around 1900. In 1901 he was a founder of the artistic movement of the Nancy School and was a member of the steering committee. Today is considered the master glassmaker more representative of the school of Nancy and his are the windows of the Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie de Nancy, the Villa Majorelle and part of those of Villa Bergeret. Even his are the windows of Galeries Lafayette in Paris.In 1914 he moved to Paris making his studio in Villa d’Alesia in the fourteenth arrondissement.He will participate in the decoration of the transatlantic Ile-de-France, dealing with lighting.
