Cardona was inspired by a painting by the artist Eugene Pascau (1875-1944) entitled “The Schoolgirl” presented at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1905.
This work depicts a young child carrying a lunch basket and a book. Her small size makes them appear large.
Her face highlighted by its beautiful patina medal, the child sketches a smile. She turns her head and eyes to the left in an adorable pout.
Dressed in a headdress with small ruffles and a shawl covering her dress and school outfit, the little girl walks with her beautiful shoes.
The artist’s signature is engraved on the terrace.
